Starting this blog is a bit overwhelming, not because blogging is hard, but because I have already learned how addicting blogging can become. I also have such a long list of favorite books that I don’t know which book to write about first. I will have to set limits on how much time I will spend blogging on this site or other priorities may suffer.
I thought I would start by listing some of my favorites by title and author only. This list is coming off the top of my head so there is no attempt to rank them to to say that there aren’t others I like even better than these – they are simply some favorites that came to mind at the moment.
The Bee Tree by Patricia Polacco
Koala Lou by Mem Fox
Quicksand by Tomie DePaola
Grandpa’s Face by Eloise Greenfield
Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman
The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant
Song and Dance Man by Karen Ackerman
Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt by Deborah Hopkinson
Possum Come A-Knockin by Nancy Van Laan
Doctor De Soto by William Steig
The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams
Swimmy by Leo Lionni
Little Red Hen retold by various authors
Stone Soup by Marcia Brown
Mr. Lincoln’s Way by Patricia Polacco
Island of the Scog by Steven Kellogg
I’m going to have to end this list sooner or later, so my last book is Night Noises by Mem Fox because it’s all about me. I have a few years to go before I’m eighty, but I thoroughly identify with the ending of the book.
